Bio:
I was born in Kentucky in 1970. I grew up in a little park just across the river from Cincinnati, OH. Sometime when I was four or five, an uncle moved in with us and brought boxes and boxes of his books. Poetry, fiction, religious material, just about everything you could imagine. He read to us at night and pretty much helped me through tough books, explaining ideas and various styles of prose. The first book I remember getting through was Close Encounters of The Third Kind. I was very young and remember that I didn't understand most of it, but I was so proud when I read the entire thing. From there I read all the Narnia Chronicles by C.S. Lewis, started in on Stephen King and lot's of fantasy. I remember an old, beat up copy of Edgar Allen Poe's works running around somewhere.

In grade school and high school, I was the kid who was always in trouble for reading in class. Reading everything except for what I was supposed to. I remember high school Civics class and getting busted at least twice a week. Sure, my grades suffered but I didn't care. Life seemed so much more fun in the books.

I went to the University Of Kentucky, and that's when I think I started to become a serious individual. I found a lot of problems with society, became very political, and tried to express this through my music. My band, a thrash band called Simple Aggression, lucked out in a record deal with a small company out of Atlanta, Leviathan Records. I had no friends at the University so I'd go home on week-ends to play with the band. We released two albums and nearly had a tour of Europe where our albums were also released under Massacre Records.

About the time the band broke up was when I started to read fringe and alternative horror. Friends led me to Poppy Z Brite who led me to Caitlin R. Keirnan who opened the world of fiction for me.

Seemed the perfect time to take up writing seriously.

I still live in Kentucky. I've found sort of peace here. I write every day so that I can make a living at it but I've done plenty of other stuff; construction worker, busboy, IT technician with a global company, you name it.

I have two cats, some trophies in a box somwhere, two records that I'm proud of and a degree in Communication. I think all of this has made me who I am. A person who can tell you a good story. Go to my fiction section and decide for yourself.
